Rolwaling is the east-west valley below Mt. Gauri Shankar (7145 m), just south of the Tibetan border. This is an isolated and culturally diverse area, but most treks conclude their visit to Rolwaling by crossing the Tashi Lapcha Pass (5755 m) into Khumbu. Rolwaling Himal is a quiet mountain region rarely visited by tourists or trekkers, making it possible for one to savor the real Himalaya here. If one adds extra days to visit Manlung La and Omai Tsho, one may truly enjoy the varieties inherent in trekking. If you are interested in climbing, you can climb any peak around this region with a climbing permit of Ramdung or whatever peak permit you may obtain.
