The Nar and Phu valleys are newly opened destination for trekking above the tree line in the Upper Mustang Region. It takes us 5 hrs to reach the pass that links Nar with Manang and three other Bhotia villages in the Nyeshang valley lower down. In terms of distance both Nar and the neighboring village of Phu is only a day’s walk from Chame. But both the places are very remote and lacking in the development. The trek offers a combination of high peaks and mountain passes glaciers, remote villages, narrow canyons, lovely forests, amazing rock formations, yaks, gompas and unique Himalayan cultures. Closed to trekkers until late 2002, very few westerners have explored these virtually untouched areas or climbed many 7000m peaks surrounding it.
